KERMAN, Feb. 7 IRNA - Deputy interior minister and head of the Civil Status Registration Organization said Tuesday that the first stage of the nationwide plan on sociology system of Iranians will be launched on February 17 for a period of 20 days within the framework of which all Iranians above 15 who live in cities will be given a national code.
Mohammad-Ebrahim Ansari who made the remark while inaugurating the new premises of the Civil Status Registration Organization of Kerman Province in southern Iran, said in case the plan is implemented successfully, many problems in social, economic and cultural fields will be removed.
He regretted that the Civil Status Registration Organization is not updated with modern technology and is still being administered through traditional methods.
Elaborating on the aim behind implementation of the plan, he said that use of computers to store the information now available at the organization will minimize misuse and will further enable people to benefit from their
In the first stage, he added, the citizens will be provided with temporary cards and in the subsequent phase they will be given a national code.
However, said the official, the national code will have least effect on application of the present identity cards in various social affairs. He also underlined the need for the cooperation of all relevant organizations in the implementation of the plan.
Ansari said that a 8,000-plus work force will contribute to the implementation of the 20-billion-rial plan in a period of 20 days by calling on people at their houses, economic centers, etc. to issue them temporary cards.
