Text of report by Iranian newspaper Aftab-e Yazd web site on 18 February

The representative of the people of Sanandaj, Divandareh and Kamyaran, Dr Jalal Jalalizadeh, has been ordered, by judge Mortazavi, to appear in court.

During a brief telephone interview with our reporter in Kordestan, Dr Jalalizadeh expressed his astonishment at being summoned to court and said: I am absolutely amazed by the fact that I am periodically ordered to
appear in court. He added: The reasons behind the issuance of this latest summons is unclear to me.

The deputy in the sixth Majlis added: In view of an obvious and visible shortage of weeklies and local publications in Kordestan, it is rather unfortunate that they should find it difficult to tolerate a progressive
weekly such as Sirvan, which promotes reformist ideas within this culture and society, and want to shut it down.

The managing editor of the weekly Sirvan said: The Majlis Presidium should be fully informed when a deputy is to be summoned to court, but, unfortunately, new and arbitrary methods have been implemented which allows them to act without coordinating their efforts with the Majlis Presidium.
