Text of report by Iranian newspaper Iran web site on 27 February

Dr Mohammad Reza Khatami, deputy Majlis Speaker and the head of the [Islamic Iran] Participation [Front; IIPF] faction, has stepped down as the head of the faction.

Announcing this to Iran's parliamentary affairs correspondent, Dr Reza Yusefian, deputy for Shiraz and a member of the IIPF faction, said: Yesterday evening, the IIPF faction convened a meeting to elected a new
presidium. He added: In view of the sensitivity of the issue, the election
of the new presidium was postponed until a meeting attended by all members.

Yusefian spoke of Dr Mirdamadi and Mohammad Na'imipur as candidates for the leadership of the IIPF faction, and said: In view of Dr Mirdamadi being the head of the National Security Committee and the sensitivity of
his work in the Majlis, it seems as if Na'imipur will be elected as the head of the faction.
