TEHRAN, May 7 (AFP) - Some 20 people were injured and over 50 arrested after Iranian security forces broke up a peaceful rally by factory workers in the central Iranian city of Isfahan, press reports said Monday. Over 1,200 workers from Isfahan's Baresh textile factory were rallying towards the town hall when police forces intervened, firing tear gas at the protestors, according to newspapers.
It said some 20 people were injured and over 50 arrested, while the remaining crowd was dispersed.
The workers were protesting against a 4-6 month delay in the pay of their salaries.
The incident comes just a week after a group of textile factory workers in Isfahan resorted to violence during a May Day gathering in a local gym, vandalising the gym hall.
