TEHRAN, Feb 15 (AFP) - Three convicted murderers were hanged this week in Iran, two in Tehran and another in the southern city of Shiraz, press reports said Thursday.

Mohammad-Baqer Babakhani, found guilty of killing a young man whom he had mistook for his wife's admirer, was hanged in the early hours of Wednesday in Tehran's eastern Qasr prison.

Abbas Davoud-Zanjani, 38, found guilty of murdering his wife, was hanged in the same prison Wednesday.

Finally, 33-year-old Morteza Yazdani received 99 lashes of the whip before being hanged in the southern city of Isfahan for the abduction of nine young girls and for rape.

Wednesday's executions bring to 11 the number of reported hangings since January.

The executions were in accordance with Iran's Islamic law of Qesas -- or an eye for an eye -- in force since the 1979 Islamic revolution here.
