Many of the so called "progressive" publications, are surprised about recent Fatwa by Khamenei regarding the discussions about the closure of newspapers in Majles. What did they expect that is part of the Islamic constituation. Velayat-Faghih is what this government stands for. It should not be a surprised when Khatami remains quite. His primary role is to protect and uphold the Islamic constitution and government. What is disappointing is that the so-called "Progressive" movement is being fooled by the outdated tactics of bunch of uneducated Mullas. It is simple-minded to think that one Mulla (Khatami) is going to free people from another Mulla (Khamenai). What is the historical basis for such expectation. I believe the reason that many of the so-called progressive organizations, individuals and newspapers advocate this position is because that they either lack basic understanding of social change in a society or they are looking for someway to partner with the likes of Khamenai, Rafsangani and Khatami to further rub Iranian people of their freedom.
