Letter From Editor,

The first issue of Iran Online Magazine is now available for your viewing. This magazine is a new addition to our collection of services that we currently offer to Iranian Internet community. It is designed to address and discuss issues that are of interest to the Iranian community. We hope that it adds a new dimension to the Iran Online forum.

In the first few issues we will include a variety of topics. We will closely monitor the statistics on the number of times each article is viewed by our viewers. This will help us to determine our readers interests which will form the basis for selection and preparation of the future articles. We hope this will help us to better serve Iranian Internet community.

We believe you are from the most educated and informed group of Iranians with the highest expectation level. You are selective in what you read and view. You are not easily influenced by slogans and empty promises. You use available information and form your own opinion. In short , it is fatal to take you for granted.

We realize that under the best of conditions, this magazine will appeal only to some of you. We can only hope that you will be among that group. We strive to stay in tune with the Iranian community and pledge that this magazine will not become a means for satisfying our own intellectual and egoistic needs. We want it to become a reflection of everyday Iranian experiences and aspirations. We want to stay away from the old practice of writing for the sake of writing. These are simple goals that are attainable and will be clearly kept in sight.

We at Iran Online Magazine, eagerly seek your participation and feedback. We want this to become a magazine of the people, by the people and for the people. We recognize that unlike traditional media, Internet sites do not have a captured audience unless they serve a real need and respond to a true demand. We do not believe that there is a selected group of people who have the right to publish and be heard. Therefore, we do not believe and we will not practice writers oligarchy in this magazine. Furthermore, we extend this policy and offer on-line hosting environment to other Iranian publications that may not have the technical expertise and the needed resources. As long as these publication meet our basic standards, we can help and make them available for viewing along side Iran Online Magazine as part of Iran Online Forum.

Articles in this issue cover a wide range of topics in both Persian and English.  Most of the articles are sent to us by our viewers. We would like to thank them and invite our other viewers to submit their articles for subsequent issues.
